Windy on Skiddaw

Somehere near SkiddawjpegSkiddaw with CassiejpegCarrie, visiting the Lakes via Scotland and New Jersey, and working towards being a Mountain Leader, was after a trip to Skiddaw last week - the forecast was for high winds (but hopefully not too much rain) so this would provide an opportunity to test oneself against the elements and, maybe, ones decision-making too. We started just west of Threlkeld, off the A66 near Blencathra, and first headed north towards Skiddaw House, passing Roughten Gill, where the main photo was taken - falls don't always have to be spectacular to be beautiful. Our route took in Skiddaw House (a remote youth hostel), Sale How, Skiddaw itself, and then Skiddaw Little Man before heading back, having been buffeted by 50mph winds once we got above 800m.
Fewer waterfalls than normal (although I always make sure we squeeze some in!) and a great day out!!
