Easedale Tarn in the mist
January has been a quiet month for Waterfall Walks (but don't worry, we've been keeping ourselves busy on other stuff!!). A favourite day with clients, however, was one of our walks from Grasmere up to Easedale Tarn via Sour Milk Gill (the Easedale one of course).
The weather was a bit mixed all day, plenty of cloud that occasionally cleared, a little sun at times, and a little rain too. Sour Milk Gill was majestic as always (main picture) and although we crossed over at the footbridge to head alongside the north side for a while to get the usual great close-up views and pics we then opted, having got back down to the footbridge, not to head back up close to the south side but to leisurely make our way along the main path to the tarn (with, of course, more great views of the falls).
As we reached the tarn the clouds were low and heavy and we couldn't see the other side. Fortunately we tarried (it was early enough, just, for a lunch stop) and were rewarded within minutes as the clouds lifted for a while to give us some stunning views across the tarn (see below).
We headed over the stepping stones (just under water today but safe enough to go over), headed over to Far Easedale (Far Easedale Gill is below), and wandered back to Grasmere.
My picture of Easedale Tarn doesn't do the day justice but that one view was well worth the walk on its' own.
